The news of Codal’s big move to the Old Post Office building has gotten the attention of many Chicago institutions, including CBS news. COO Matt Gierut spoke with reporter Marie Saavedra about the transition to a new location and employee interest in returning to the office.
“Everyone’s been remote for a little over a year now. and we’ve been going through the same struggles every organization has gone through,” said Gierut. However, growth for Codal has continued as the desire for eCommerce web services escalated over the course of 2020. This led to additional hiring and, in turn, the need for a larger space.
Gierut and CEO Keval Baxi chose to move to a location that includes a gym, a lounge for happy hours, and a rooftop entertainment space. These amenities represent perks for employees but also inviting spaces for clients as well.
“Having everyone come back into an amazing building with amazing amenities—from a culture standpoint, that’s something we’re really looking forward to,” Gierut said.
Codal aims to welcome its employees into the new space in the summer as vaccines become more widely available and people become comfortable using public transportation.
